At 15:25 you say you don't know how to edge the quilt so let me show you a treasure of a channel. It's AngiesBitsAndPieces
and she has a video called "How to finish English Paper Piecing projects" which I found very helpful! She has two different techniques. My own technique is to put a full row of hexies all along the edge of the backing fabric. I don't mind if they're all in random order, because it's just the back. I ladder-stitch the back hexies to the front ones, and whip stitch the free inner edge of the hexies to the backing fabric. That saves you doing complicated corners with a binding strip. God bless!
P.S. My first time doing this I whip-stitched the outer edges instead of ladder-stitching, and I must say it did NOT look nice. So I highly recommend the invisible ladder stitch.

At 12:08 when you got a knot I wanted to tell you about a product I love called Sewer's Aid. It's a silicone liquid in a little bottle that looks like Visene eye drops or something. But it can be put on your thread and it virtually eliminates hard tangles. Threads knot a lot less, and when they do tangle the knots are much simpler to pull apart again. One tiny bottle lasts forever because you just need a drop or so that you'll rub on two fingers and then slide it across your needleful of thread each time. There is no residue or anything, it just makes your sewing easier. I hope you try it!

I love this quilt. I would love to someday make something so beautiful. Right now I have nowhere to do any sewing, as well as no time with my 4 little blessings running around. And hubby is rebuilding the house price by piece. I love watching your videos, it is very therapeutic.
    Love you!

I really enjoyed this live vlog! I have quilted some, but right now I'm doing crochet. Today I enjoyed your video while I crocheted some dishcloths. I also listen to your reading channel while I crochet. I read the Little House series to my girls when they were little, and when I saw them on your channel, I just had to listen to Them! I'll be listening to your Anne of Green Gables next, then A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Your my favorite you tube person! I found you a few years ago when I was searching for a pickled beets video and I was hooked right away. I feel like we're family now. So thank you Sista for all you do and for sharing your day to day with us!! 😊❤️😘

Grandmothers flower garden is. One of my favorite quilts, but I have never attempted to make one. I do quilt and I have so many that I need to finish. Your Flower Garden is beautiful! I watch most of your videos and enjoy them.

My mom and her mother made one over a 10 yr period in the 30's & 40's. I got inspired and started one, got the top almost done and had to pit it away because life got in the way. After 20 yrs I finally got the top done and a new friend machine quilted it for me in exchange for 2 boxes of scrap fabrics. The old one is still my favorite but it is too fragile to use and wash any more.

I was making one of these and when I'd gotten about twin size and removed a lot of the paper pieces, I realized that I'd messed up and it was not even. I stuffed it in a drawer to work up the umph to take it apart and figure out how to fix it. I might tackle it this summer.

I'm a visual learner too Bev, sometimes I can use a book, but I'm better at hands on. I learned to sew on a peddle Singer sewing machine while playing 45 records on a record player. I never used a pattern, just cut and sew. I learned to use a pattern later when my other grandmother got an electric sewing machine…I thought I was in hog heaven, lol. Take care y'all!

I am hand piecing grandmother's flower garden blocks that are going to be turned into curtains for my bedroom. The blocks are all scraps and just one round around the center.

Hi Bev, I am self taught too but not as good as you are . the quilts I have made for our son he treasures and has told me many times how much it means to him . On the back of one I embroidered the traced of my hand , our son's when he was little in the middle and then his Dad's . Around are the embroidered print of a paw of each of our dog's and a little ferret . It is his favorite ; Of course I put the dates . The quilt front is all done in blue prints and some solid blues , Flying Geese . I see mistakes in it but he probably doesn't .
I don't know about the paper quilting and how it really works but looks like it may be easier for small pieces . Do you wash the top after it is all done to get the paper to come off and then pick some off ? Excuse my Pointy Head , no coffee down me yet and getting over a fibro Flare . Haven't had any more small strokes so that is good , praise the Lord .
Sorry I missed this live , tuned in to see but this one was very early .
Would like to see Howie's progress with the race car . Hubby Bill is working on our 1972 Jeep commando , just put a starter in it and will get a couple more parts this week . Sure will be beautiful when it is painted . Beam Howie here for that please !

I’m working on one of these too. I am sewing white hexies around each one for now but what to do to get a row is a bit intimidating to say the least. Nice job Bev!

Can you add a half hex piece in the border to to make it come out straight ?? I have the same pain in my thumb area ( arthritis ) I also learn by seeing so your videos of quilting brought me to your channels.
