We treat turnips like potatoes too. My husband makes yummy roasted turnip enchiladas or sausage and turnip tacos.

The spicy flowers are nasturtiums. Minor's lettuce is similar, if you want more edible salad greens.

haha how adorable. I LOVE the video!  Your lettuce looks great. You need to grow some freckles lettuce. it is a speckled variety. I am NOT a turnip person, but I am however a parsnip person. Sorry haha we can't like them all.

I grow nasturtiums every year and love having them in the garden.  Here is a recipe for your turnip. Pigs in the Blanket, Garden Style with Sweet Potato Mash Recipe
Use the turnip in place of the mustard green, it will be fantastic! Also, if you would like, share on FB (I am not on FB). Thanks soooo much. You have an absolutely lovely garden.

What month did you plant your turnips and what type of corn are you planting?  When you mentioned you had trouble growing corn was it because it never reached full height or was it because ears didn't develop properly.  Corn is wind pollinated so it's better to plant them in blocks rather than a single row.  If you don't have a lot of wind at your location, it may have not gotten pollinated.   For growing in a single row you can get around that problem by gently shaking the tassels once it's mature.

I use turnips instead of potatoes in my vegetable beef soup. If you like lamb, it's also good in soups with lamb. My family actually prefers the turnips to the potatoes in these soups. Beautiful gardens! I just built and filled four raised bed gardens. I can't wait to get them going.

You have a green thumb, and those blessing growing hands. Your garden is wonderful. You are growing everything that I love. With a garden that size, it's good to freeze some veggies so can also have the taste of summer all winter long. Also your chickens benefit from this. You are doing a wonderful job. Bless you.
