Looks beautiful and very useful…that is a winner.  Thank you for also mentioning how much it costs to do this project.

I wish I knew…An older couple had them in their garden for several years and they said they produce grapes, 1 green and 1 purple variety but they didn't know what they were. I honestly don't even care I'll eat any food that grows – ha.

They say lasts 50 years on the exterior of a building. and only needs to be maintained every 10-15 years with a coat of the linseed oil or the linseed oil wax.

Yea, it's pretty darn expensive but if it lasts as long as they claim it will be worth it for sure. We've had to paint the white fence every year because the "modern" acrylic latex paints peel because they don't expand and contract with the wood, in our damp climate this is a big issue, The labor and time we will save not having to stain the 2 skirted decks, two 2-story decks and 3 sets of stairs every year will certainly be worth it if it all works out. 🙂

I mixed the paint 50/50 with oil for the old wood on our decks, it was able to go on much more smoothly, and the key is having a good natural bristle brush. For the new wood I mixed two parts paint to one part oil as the smooth new wood grain tended to show through more. All wood had one coat.

Zuki don't paint -haha I did 🙂 He has no clue on how to mix paint – it was the cause of a few tiffs -lol…I am delighted with the grapes on the arbour but if for some reason they don't survive I will definitely consider a rose 🙂

Thanks…I like naked wood but it rots in our wet climate and Zuki gets quite upset about rot…lol so we found this paint and we hope it helps it last much longer :)

I love the color of the stain. Wood is nice and rustic, but it's nice to see another color and still be organic.
    Very nice view!
