I guess I am the only person who kills these plants I am going to try to do indoors now….we shall see how long before they die. I grew all kinds of plants at home in Missouri…. then had to move to San Antonio, now everything dies. I spent so much money on so many kinds of plants…..dead….all of them. I hate Texas

Thanks for this informative video. What would happen if you took clippings from the basil and rooted them in small glass jars filled with water sitting in front of window? Would the flavor of the plant be good as from a new seedling? Or would it be considered old and not the right flavor? French Tarragon isn't grown from seed anywhere, and is propigated by rooting, so I guess it doesn't the problem the basil does?

Will mint grow in rocky soil? I live in a rented house with a rubbish garden and the landlord sprays weedkiller every year. I was hoping I could use mint to take the garden over and make it nicer. 🙂

great video but i thought you weren't supposed to put different mints together as they lose their differences?

A wood deck is not your friend if you want to put wet pots on it. It will rot very quickly unless you stain it ever year.

Gary, I've always liked your videos, but I have to say that you crowd the heck out of your herbs. Oregano, for instance, can grow very bushy and tall enough to shade out some other herbs, with enormous roots as big as a healthy tomato's roots. Additionally, once let flower, they are great for feeding and attracting bees. So I'd much prefer a huge healthy oregano plant in a big bucket or in the ground or a raised planter than one crowded into a small, shallow planter with two other herbs. I think there will be less chance for disease to spread and really take hold when large plants aren't crowded into such small spaces, too.

My back deck gets a lot of sun and heats up to uncomfortable. How much sun/shade do herbs need? I live in zone 7.

Love the channel! This is my first attempt at herbs along with a cherry tomato and jalapeno plant this year. on my backyard patio. How soon can you cut herbs when you purchase them as plants form the store?
I though I cold cut my parsley and the next thing I know is, its yellow on the edges. Did I wait too late? water too much? too little?

Thanks so much for your videos!!! I already planted some herbs including basil and tomatoes. so can I just sprinkle garden tone on top and water really well? How often do we use garden tone and can I skip the liquid fertilizer if I’m already using garden tone?

Hello. Thanks for your video,; it’s full of good info!
I just planted some herbs and veggies in grow pots yesterday but I have a question!!??
I’m a newbie; don’t know what I’m doing but I’ve watched a ton of videos & got confused (everyone has their own soil recipe & how-to & it became too much for me!)
I didn’t give up though so I decided to just “dive in” & see what happens! Lol!
Is it true….??? That marigolds will help keep pests away from plants?
I planted 1 or 2 marigolds around my pots but I’m feeling very iffy about it! Your advice is much desired! Please !!! Thanks again for your videos.

Horse Summoner War manure works wonders all I had left was horse manure I have my soil stolen from me so I used up the rest of my horse manure I put it in an aloe vera plant it is so gigantic it looks like it's been growing in Florida anybody that's watching or reading this comment just try horse manure when first. The one that comes in the 20 lb bag doesn't really smell that bad I'm not talking about fresh from the farm
