Nice. We got lucky and had a grouping of pawpaw trees grow naturally in our backyard right along a creek. We didn’t even know it until recently because they don’t grow fruit for a few years. But these trees grow like weeds it feels. Like the more you have the more it fosters growth.

When I was out in Michigan I saw whole wood lots of these. Wish I had brought some seeds back. Are you propagating them from your neighbors seed? Would you be willing to share seed if you have any for this upcoming growing season?

Good video we grew up in WV eating these babies. My grandparents had the second largest pawpaw tree in the world in Kimberly, WV. The largest one was in eastern KY. We live in Arkansas and they are very hard to grow here with our heat and sun where I am now.

I’ve got two. In my food forest. They are only three years old and had a couple flowers this spring but didn’t produce any fruit. Maybe next year.. I pick wild ones every year at a secret spot we go hiking. Delicious

I have 2 -4 year old paw paws and they are still only 7 foot high….How old are yours, and when did they fruit? Can you freeze the fruit? It seems if you can make ice cream, you would be able to freeze it…. Thanks

Pretty sure I recently found a noce size Pawpaw next to the river levee along the Skagit River in Mt. Vernon, WA. I will check it out now that I know what they are.

Just came across your vid. I vaguely remember hearing about them when growing up. Do you think they could survive in Maryland? In the city? I have a nice big fire escape.

The reason I was first attracted to the PawPaw tree is that I heard they attracted a particular type of butterfly. I want to add to my garden for that reason as many plants attracting butterflies require sun. I live in the mountains so my pawpaws would be planted for understory.

One thing you should mention for forest gardeners like myself is that bears will seriously do ANYTHING to get the fruit

Central Indiana is where i grew up and ate them, also. Have not seen one in at least 55 years. They were so good. I would save the seeds and put them in the refrigerator and to suck on later. I am not sure why i did that but it was fun then…..oh well. Pawpaws and persimmons are the only two things I miss about Indiana.

Excellent video. Thank you! I have 6 pawpaws in my yard. Two are upwards of 10 ft high…but zero flowers or fruits so far. I've never seen them in the wild…but found a wild orchard along the Potomac River and they were very abundant and tasty. I"m taking that off my bucket list.
