Im gonna have fences, as high as I legally can go… I hate humans there are only a few good ones, thats why I can't let these evil people succeed its my duty to fight against them… If I had my way i'd have barbed wire… its like ask if you want some seeds and grow your own shit, don't steal mine…. some people just don't think like good people do, when I was young I never was inclined to steal, I was raised to be polite… Some of these young ones are just nasty, useless, little wastes of space and nutrients…

That's just rude, stealing a person food…almost as rude as those sneakers. You could explain to them that they could watch you channel and learn how to get their own garden going? You're supposed to be a kung fu teacher? Well, from what I gathered from my experience in martial arts is that you are always learning and teaching, teach MOFO!

Hi. I live in Victoria BC and I garden in a community garden. Our plots are big. The last few years we have had major theft of fruit and veggies. They wait until a crop is ripe and come in at night with vehicles and take everything. There are so many ways to make money selling produce here. People just say they grew themselves. Meanwhile in the park beside me apples fall to the ground and feed the raccoons. I've even taken a ladder over to harvest fruit for people in the park. Sign of the times I guess.

Fig in a container. I had to cut off the top because it was getting too tall and none of the fruit was ripening. It may now become my favorite fruit tree.

My grandpa lives in Venezuela and he used to protect a part of their backyard with tons of prickly pear cacti, he actually would burn off the thorns and plant the pads for a living prickly fence. I think they got too large so he burned them all haha

Your method of dealing with the problem of stealing is admirable… Planting a passive barrier rather than a iron fence…. Subtly reiterating where the boundaries are of your property etc…

If it were really an Israeli lady with kids, you should forgive her: it is a tradition in Israel to plant fruit trees by the road for passers by to pick fruit from – kinda like giving to the world. But as for neighborhood kids – they are just thugs, they know of no tradition and just always want to steal fruit, in any country :)

I was waiting for my Golden Delicious Apples to ripen on my tree, about a dozen of them. I go out to check on they and all are gone but two at the very top. I was suspicious so I looked it up. Squirrels eat apples.

Yeah, that's why I plant the decoratives, thorny stuff & "trash" trees in front while planting the good stuff out of view.
I can just do a chop 'n drop with the stuff in front & drag it to the back & mulch it for the garden & fruit trees.

Had problems with this too, my neighbors stole my fruit, and me and my neighbors don't like each other. So i put a deadly skull sign with "Soil has been threaten with Roundup ( weed remover that can give you cancer..) For your own safety, don't steal and eat more unless you want to get seriously sick. Next day, he was at my door all scared about his health, told him that one time won't do harm, but don't ever do it again. I'm pretty evil, but it works really well. It's dark out now, i'll put a picture of it tomorrow :)

I tell everyone to pick what they want. I grow private stuff in my back yard. Even though I tell everyone to take what they want I rarely have anyone take much of anything.

One problem with giving people fruit when they ask is that the word "free" spread quick in town and then every one is at the door wanting to take a piece. Also what shocks me is when I tell people no, they just go and take it.

Creating clearly defined boundaries, creates clearly defined boundaries.
