I hope you pay your Mexicans well for doing this job.  It looks tedious

You guys are great! We just purchased a home with three fruit trees that seriously need pruning last fall. I thought I was finished after that, now I need to get my butt out there and get thin. Saw this video just in time. Thanks

I've a serious question on the heavy fruit sets. You said on the apricot to thin to one every fist or 8", & on the plum/apricot one every 8-12". I realize this is the optimum but, if our economy ever tanked into another depression our fruit trees would become critical food sources. How much heavier could we backyarders max out the fruit sets in going less than a fist or 8"s? And how much more so (closer) if we used props such as boards to help bare the weight on heave branches? TIA!

Depends on the fruit really. Four or five inches for smaller fruits, 6 to 8 for larger.

What part of the year is this happening-early summer(?) when the fruit is still green? No problem to trim the branches at that stage ?
    Thanks
