Hello, I recently purchased a Hak Ip Lychee tree, and it's about 3-4ft tall. I heard they are fussy to deal with..any truth to that? What would be the soil conditions? Acidic soil? I'm considering planting this in the ground but if not, maybe in a container. I've read that Lychee is more of a Sub-tropical tree than tropical. I live in zone 10a Northern California where my weather isn't hot but a temperate cool summers and winters are only down to rare 35 degrees but mostly 40's. Just seeking advice thank you and love the channel!

Hi, I have my lychee seedling in a new pot and today i noticed that the tap root [the thickest root] grew out from the bottom via a drainage hole. I decided to prune it, but i'm worried that this will affect my seedling. The reason I pruned it was because i had left the roots on another seedling grow out of their small pot and it started to wilt from what i guessed was most likely root rot as the exposed roots had died. Could pruning the tap root also cause root rot?

Quick question: for #1 and #6, can I apply the minerals and spray the same time when i fertilize in spring and summer or must they be done at different times? if so, how long apart?
    thank you- again

Hi! I just wanna ask you since tropical is the climate we have here in the Philippines is there a big chance that my potted Lychee plant would grow, most of the year we have sunny hot weather but December and January are the only months to be a bit cold.. Im afraid that it will be deprive with the necessary weather it needs.. hoping for the best.. great video you got there and thank you for sharing..

Do they need grafting like mango tree? Or the fruits can grow without grafting?

What time of year do they usually flower ?. Im growing one inside in the UK using 1x 300 watt cfl grow light and 1x 300w Mars led grow light and its putting on loads of new leaves, and the leaves are getting huge, they all look happy anyway. Its a 4 foot air layer I think as it has all the grower branding on the label etc (was imported). I just need to simulate the right time of year day length to get it to flower.

    Cheers Pepe!
I am a little amazed to see you growing lychees as I had read years ago that they would only fruit in China in localities where a certain bacteria was present in the environment. I have raised plants from seeds before but did not think they were worth allowing to progress into fruiting sized plants for that reason.
