Just moved to Temecula area. I’m in zone 9B. There are some dragon fruit in the ground here looked pretty bad. Triple digit temps and planted directly into clay soil. Can the ever thrive here or should I give up and plant prickly pear? . I love nopales. Later edit, one more question. How about a 20 gallon grow bag for dragon fruit? I don’t suppose it would work forever but maybe for the first year?

Love the episode on making trellis for Dragon Fruit plant but here is the deal. Just yesterday I planted 8 cuttings to propogate. I planted them in an approximately 1 gallon containers just to get them going (I had pruned plant a week ago and my cuttings were getting a little wimpy / dried out). It will take me a little while to build these nifty trellises. When is a good time to repot them from my little insti-pot to the forever home? Second comment: I am new to YouTube. Kevin referred to a list, I believe it is a list a materials, which is linked somehow to the video. Can you say where?

Good video! But I have not seen you mention cut/drill more drain holes on the bottom pot. Keep in mind that drainage is very important to the DF life and one of the easiest ways to kill DF plants is too much water stays in the pot. Keep up the good work Epic Gardening!

If you want to make the wood last a year or two longer, use a water based clear coat to paint the wood that you buried in the soil.

As a side note, here in South Florida, it is increasingly hard to find clay pots in any size. Effects of COVID and quarantining?
