In American we call the squash a zucchini and pick and them at an immature size when the seeds are still soft and eatable. Friends that have given me a huge zucchini I have thanked but threw it away. City gardeners don’t know any better. Now you call it a courgette and use it as a pumpkin! Titli you are improving international acceptance of old squash. Next time I will make ratatuouille! I enjoy your garden, your soothing voice and humor.

Although Pyrethrins will kill them, it isn't good for your plants. You are best to use an earwig and sowbug bait available at your garden center. or the damp, rolled up paper trick (they move in overnight, you throw away in the morning)

eradicate earwigs with bifenthrin or permethrin or natural pyrethrins purified from chrysanthemums.

Titli, my exterminator hubby says to put a damp, rolled up newspaper down in the area of where you have seen them. The next morning throw it away (along with the little buggers who have taken up residence during the night) and repeat. Think of it as an earwig Motel.

isnt nature wonderful … this is the best Titli show of the year, what an amazing crop yum yum ….. dead jealous. I would just scoff those plums. I read that a way to keep earwigs of plants is to smear petroleumjelly around the stems… get lubing up yr trees Titli πŸ™‚

We once had a monster courgette that we plucked, brought inside, and forgot about. A few weeks later I went to move it and it vomited its putrid, liquefied insides all over me and its environs. Such fond memories.

One of my more vivid memories of my grandmother is of her puttering around her garden with a paring knife, beheading any earwig she could find. Not quite practical advice but it always brings a smile to my face for some reason πŸ™‚
