    Depends on the variety. Check with your garden center when you buy the tree. the posts should be cemented in to hold up the weight of the tree.

    Another idea I have been experimenting with is using hair clips- that way you can easily move your tiedowns as the tree grows and branches. You can buy packages of them cheap at the dollar store.

    I want to know how to prune AFTER the fruit spurs grow out on the espaliered limbs! 🙁
