john, fairchild has a fruit farm a few miles away that has hundreds of varieties of mangos, avocados, etc. etc. Dr. Richard Campbell is the tropical fruit guru so you have to stop by next time you're in miami.

Apples and stone fruit need like500hours of cold.It does not happen here,so unfortunately I can't have my favorite stone fruit grown in my garden-apricots.We were on vacation last summer in North California in June, stayed at house we found on Airbnb. They had garden with stone fruit trees.50percent of my diet were apricots. We loved North California,it's so beautiful,we are going to move there.

Tomatoes are grown from October to December and from March to May,sometimes all winter long if there is no frost that can kill them ,so are strawberries here in Central Florida. So tomatoes, strawberries and citrus fruits are main winter crops.

Did you get to go by The Kampong? It is really cool and nearby in Coconut Grove. It features rare tropical fruits along with other rare tropicals. Fruit and Spice park is a must see as well.

fairchild is beautiful, went there for the International Bamboo festival/convention in 2003, wonderful time !

you can take runners and plant them in a new bed, and have two beds of raspberries.. (if you have lots of room). In the new bed, put all the nutrients. That being said, all is NOT lost for your old bed. Dont pull them up. All you need to do is to add either: rock dust minerals (azomite or gaia green) or ocean grown solution (properly diluted) to get some micro minerals back into the soil. I would also enrich with organic compost and worm castings.

The Duran is an interesting fruit – to some people it smells really good and to other it smells like poop. However, those who dislike the smell initially will grow to like the smell if they have a constant exposure.
