What would you say is easiest seed to just throw down and it usually grows with little care, except some water. I have an empty partially wooded lot (city owned, it is the edge of city park) next to my house that I somewhat care for by raking leaves and cutting all the little tree shoots that keep coming up. I just want to throw some seed down there for spring and summer so it looks a little nicer, but don't want it to be a lot of work. Thanks for any ideas. I'm zone 8

Thanks for the info, going to plant for a market gardening next year and needing some ideas. We are in Humidity Hot South East Tennessee, LOL. Will they grow?

I've been growing zinnias for years now and I just got the queen lime varieties this year and I am hoping they will do good. I'm going to start them in flats when it's gets a little warmer I think. I could put them in jugs. I don't know. I also just got some rojo amaranth. I'm excited to see how it does.

Enjoyed this. Thanks for the advice on good flowers to grow from seed. You’re right the orange cosmos came up in hardly any time at all. 5 days!! Like the suggestions on plants with great foliage to use as well.
One plant I’m having little success with is milkweed only one 🌱has come up so far. Bye for now!

Do you find bachelors buttons to be difficult to grow? Mine do pretty well here in Virginia but they never seem to have long enough stems, even though the seeds are specifically for cutting flowers. Maybe I'm not pinching or pruning them right.
