Genetic selection for breeding etc depends on lots of stuff like how true to seed, how many phenotypes the plants genetic variability etc.

He has medicinal herbs too? At 21:07 Star Anise (Illicium Verum) Is not easy to come by any more, at least not where I am. Maybe because of Tamiflu production? WOW His fruit farm is astounding! Thank you for sharing this video. It is absolutely fascinating. I would love to hear what he's been producing over the past few years since your visit.

Hi friends, Thanks for the good work! Wow, it sure looks dry, because that is the dry season about 6 months ago.. We are located on the south central Pacific side of Costa Rica, 20 kilometers inland from the beach at Dominical. If you run onto any interesting fruits seeds be sure to remember me….. The potato chip nut tree has been identified as Sterculia recordiana. My contact is jesseblenn at gmail dot com.

I was VERY surprised to see Mabolo fruit there – even most Filipinos haven't heard of that native fruit.Incidentally, the word "marang" is properly pronounced with the first vowel elongated (i.e. Maarang).

This was so informative! Have never seen acai and so interesting to see all the other fruits that've been hybridized by Jesse. I realise now that most fruits we get now are hybrids. But I really don't know what to think about it. Is it nature's way?
If there's a fruit I don't like, it's salak and I'm surprised that Jesse mentions it a bit. Maybe I'm missing something. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for posting this tour. As a fruit enthusiast myself with a small young orchard in the Mediterranean climate, this was fascinating. The bio-diversity is just mindblowing. The more you learn about new fruits the more there is to learn.

I could see you guys buying some land in the tropics and planting your own orchard someday : ) Even I wish I could do that after watching this!
