Do you cover your raised beds with leaves or straw for the winter? Does anything overwinter in them? I have asparagus and I covered the bed with rigid insulation and then put bags of leaves around that. I was wondering if you have success with wintering in raised beds?

What should I do to my raised beds for winter? It was the first year for them. I had aphids, cucumber beetles and powdery mildew. Any suggestions?

Thank you, Luke, but please give more description next time. Also, I'd like to see how you mulch certain things such as artichokes.

So much chard!!!! What do you do with it all? I am having the same issue, but don't know what to do with it other than sauteing it, which is not a crowd favorite.

Late crop radishes this late? It's going to be 16 degrees Saturday in Toledo, I think I'm done with outdoor new plants.

Ever think about getting a shredder to grind up the garden waste to compost faster? I've been debating it. Small gas powered models that'll do wood too run $300-500, little wimpy electric ones can be had for way less, like $150.

man i thought broccoli stocks got thick. that was the size of a pineapple. you could almost use it for self defense. dont got a gun, cant get to a knife and the bat is somewhere to be found. well run out back and grab a swiss chard stock if no tools are in reach and just give em one good clubbing.

I don’t think it’s right to be composting diseased leaves. Maybe you can don’t know. I wouldn’t

So, you're putting SEEDS in the ground for radishes, lettuce and carrots right now? Also, how much do you water your chard in the winter? I'm assuming you still harvest some for eating throughout the winter as well? Thanks!
