Just thought id let you know. We have a squirrel problem every year with apricots. For a while we only got like 5 total each year. One year we accidentally harvested them early (long story heh). They obviously were unripe. But in a week or 2, they all started to ripen up and they tasted great still! Almost just as good! So if you ever have issues, know this is an option!

Do you do any thinning on your trees? Would love to see more of the maintenance that you do in your garden. It would also be interesting to see your setup for watering.

Hey Jake, in your state the sun can ruin the growth of fruits but for me in the UK it is the opposite because it is too cold to grow all those exotic fruits here without a £million greenhouse. Do you have any advice for growing tropical fruit in around -5 degrees celcius in the winter to around 37 degrees celcius in the summer?

Been harvesting 'cots for 60 years. Jake is correct. Also, it you want to preserve and you live in a hot sunny climate wait until you get nectar drops, then pick, remove pit, and place on a cookie sheet spread open, in direct sun. Check every hour or so, depending on heat. I left them on my roof in Sacramento (60 years ago) for 3 hours in 110 degrees, and when I checked I found some had black spots. Burned? No, but I thought so. I removed them to find they still had moisture, and all of them had great taste.

You should crack the pit open and eat the apricot kernel. It is high in vitamin B-17 A.K.A. Amygdalin. The Kernels and also Apple seeds are known for their high levels of non free form Cyanide, which is only released to free form when making contact with mutagenic – cancer cells.
The Hunzas supposedly are known for their wealth within their community by how many apricot kernels they posses.

My favourite – I love my apricot tree! How gorgeous and delicious are those fruits? In Australia our fruit trees are going into winter mode now, but they'll be bursting into blossom in just a few months. Enjoy your apricots!
