Nice video. But i am growing plumeria in big 22 inch pots in my terrace garden So in that case i have to use soil medium. Soilless media will not work in big pots. What do you suggest ? Thanks

Hindi commentary would be good, but making again a new video is not easy. Subtitles will be easy to do.
    Nicely done, lot of info.
    Cute Galib. Thanks so much.

Hi, I was considering changing my potting mix of soil and cocopeat as it gets very heavy when I want to shift them. This is the perfect video I was looking. Thanks for putting in so much effort to explain each option. I will be trying the 1st option for my succulents
and 2nd option for my flowering and other indoor plants (correct me know if I am wrong). Just wanted to how many pots of cow manure have you put at 8:25?

Good information..and whare did you get sand ..? Your sand looks nice golden colour in Mumbai we did not get this type of sand is it river sand..even in constructions also they are using black colour of sand..?

I make 3 different potting mixes to grow vegetables , flowers and fruit trees . I discuss the pros and cons of each type and why we have been using soil less potting mix no 2 since the last 7 years .

The purpose of this video to compare and understand what works best for our garden , every garden is different and unique , our choice of plants to grow is different and hence the option to choose from the 3 potting mixes .

Potting mix no 1 : Non soil , using PERLITE for drainage , has 2 parts filler ,1 part nutrition . Costs the most due to perlite being expensive as compared to vermiculite and river sand .

Potting mix no 2 : Non soil , using VERMICULITE for drainage , our potting mix of choice since the time we started our garden 7 years ago , 2 parts filler , one part nutrition . 2nd most economical , vermiculite retails at 100 / kg and one can lower cost by buying bigger quantity in the beginning of the season . I purchased 10 kg which cost me 80 / kg .

Potting mix no 3 : Soil based , using RIVER SAND for drainage , 2 parts nutrition , 2 parts filler . It is probably the cheapest of all the 3 . One thing that bothers me about using soil in container gardens is that precious top soil is excavated and sold . Apart from this I have mentioned the other drawbacks for me using soil as a balcony gardener . Please note that I am not against soil , I would love to have an in ground garden and use soil the way it is supposed to be used .

My reason for not using soil for my garden are mentioned in the video — just too heavy for a box grill type garden , it is 3 times heavier than my created potting mix , it gets hard after some time and needs to be loosened up , my garden space is too small and often inaccessible to reach out and do this loosening on a regular basis , stains exteriors of building .

Having said this another point to consider is that soil belongs on the surface of the earth . When we buy soil for our garden , basically it is man made erosion of the fertile top soil which is so critical to retain moisture, nutrients , maintain ground water levels and so much more .

People selling soil are buying soil that is being excavated some where and re selling it . As gardeners every one is trying to be "green " , save the environment and earth , grow your own food . However by using soil , this very purpose is being defeated and we are man made reason for soil erosion.

Creating one's own soil less potting mix using renewable resources ( coconot coir , compost , vermicompost ) then would be really good idea .

All materials used in this video were purchased from Ratanshi Agro , Byculla East , Mumbai ( Just ahead of Rani Baug / Byculla zoo at the foot end of bridge ). Open 9.30 am – 7.30 pm .

Phone no : 022 23723296 . One of the Co Owner Mr Vijay or his brother would be good persons to talk to and enquire .

Some youtubers say soiless mix doesn't provide any support for plants and will fall due to winds., (And suggest to use soil with soiless)
Is it true? Then how to solve it without addition of soil (if yes)
